From a young age, all I ever wanted to do was work with animals and although I had every kind of pet imaginable from rodents to birds, cats and even stick insects I was never allowed my own dog. This is what led me to eventually after school and sixth form go on to college where I studied small animal care and receive my level 2. As part of my studies I had to complete work experience where I was lucky enough to get a placement at a dog grooming salon. Once I started there I never looked back! Over 12 years later I am fortunate enough to have worked at a few groomers where I’ve received lots of experience and am able every day to do the job I love!
I now also through doing this job finally have the dog I always wanted, three of them in fact! I’m the very proud owner (mum) of two bichons and a cheeky little Shih Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier mix. I hope to be able to make your fur babies feel as pampered and loved as I would wish my own boys to be.
I am self-employed, renting a table at Smarty Paws as of June 2022.
I am incredibly fortunate to have always had the company of dogs throughout my life. I have grown up with breeds such as Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, English and Irish Setters and now alongside my partner am a proud owner of a slightly crazy German Shorthaired Pointer. I have always loved dogs and this passion sparked my interest to pursue a career in this field.
I began my journey into the world of dog grooming in September 2017 when I enrolled onto the City and Guilds level 2 dog grooming course at Derby College, alongside my job at the time.
In March 2018 I gained my C+G level 2 qualification. I set out to gain further hands-on experience and was offered a full-time position at Smarty Paws in October 2018.
I am very proud to be able to say that I have worked here beside side Leanne for over three and a half years. I have learnt so much from her and I feel very privileged to have been given such an opportunity at an award-winning salon with such a talented dog groomer as herself.
With all the support and encouragement, I have been given over these past few years I have taken the plunge into self-employment. I have had the pleasure of getting to know all of our wonderful loyal customers and their beloved dogs. I am grateful for those long term and new customers who continue to support me on this journey and I hope to see you and your lovely dogs in the salon very soon!
