Here at Smarty Paws, we adore your dogs – and truly care about them! We understand that grooming can be scary at first, and some dogs may find it a difficult experience. We aim to make your special companions feel safe and secure at all times and always take extra care.
Unfortunately, we have had instances when the beautiful dogs we groom have had negative grooming experiences elsewhere, and have returned to us scared and aggressive compared to their usual tail wagging selves! It only takes one bad experience of grooming to fill your dog with anxiety.
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you may be unable to get an appointment with us, however, we wanted to share some of our experience and knowledge to help you make the most informed decision for your dog when it comes to grooming.
So why is it so important to stick with the same groomer?
Grooming can be a great bonding experience:
By sticking with the same groomer, your dog will build a beautiful relationship with the groomer, allowing your dog to feel at ease and comfortable, and to trust the groomer in a situation where they can feel vulnerable. This, in turn, makes grooming a pleasant and enjoyable experience – happy dogs all around!
It becomes normal and routine:
Grooming does not have to be stressful, by keeping it regular and with the same groomer, it becomes part of your dog’s routine. Some dogs may not like a certain part of their body being touched, here at Smarty Paws we take the time to get to know your dog and make it as calming experience as possible.
It is important to make sure you pre-book with the same groomer to ensure you can get an appointment. This is in the best interest of your dog and its wellbeing, as waiting longer than normal for an appointment can be uncomfortable for them and lead to matted fur, making a much more difficult and uncomfortable experience for your dog when they do get groomed.
